In ancient times, alchemists attempted to transmute base elements like lead into the noble element gold. This single-player puzzle game uses words as elements and your goal is to transmute one word into a different word. A puzzle consists of a pair of words. Starting with the first word, you have to find a sequence of valid words in which you only change one letter of the word in each step until you reach the last word. For example, you can transmute the word 'cat' to 'dog' in three steps by doing: cat > cot > dot > dog

Notice that the letters are not being rearranged or shifted left and right. In each step you replace one letter of the word by a different letter. Depending on the pair of words, you might need a few steps or many steps. For some pairs, there are multiple solutions that work. For example, you can also do: cat > cot > cog > dog

You can enjoy solving about 160,000 puzzles for 3-letter words and more than 8,000,000 puzzles for 4-letter and 5-letter words. The puzzles range from easy to extremely difficult.
